College Planning Financial Aid

Thinking about college? Take the time to do research and apply for as many scholarships and grants as possible. The “little” $500 scholarship awards will really stack up, plus there is less competition for the smaller ones. The hours spent applying will be worth it. Scroll down for helpful links. Watch this 7 minute success story for inspiration! If college is right for you, do NOT go into debt for it.

Steps BEFORE you start applying:

  1. Create a separate email that you will use ONLY for financial aid scholarships applications. You will begin receiving a lot of emails once you start applying.

  2. Do your research and BEWARE of scammers. Scammers ask for fees as a way to take your money for an application—Scholarships should not require any fee. Never give out credit, debit or bank info to receive financial aid.

FAFSA (Federal Student Aid)

- A FAFSA application may be filed anytime after October 1st of your senior year in high school. You only file one FAFSA regardless of how many colleges you are considering.

Pray for wisdom and seek out wise, godly counsel as you decide next steps for your future. Perhaps the Lord would have you attend a Christian college either in person or online, or it may be that the Lord is leading you to attend a local college as you prepare for a career to make lives better for people here in Live Oak and around the world.
